Design Your Future Day is annual recruiting event that identifies outstanding eleventh grade high school females who have excelled in math and science and want to learn about STEM degree programs and careers.  The School has been utilizing this program for over 20 years to help diversify its student population.  Design Your Future Day will take place on Sunday, April 22, 2018, and I’m writing to invite you to volunteer to support this year’s program.

High school students who register for DYFD will meet RPI undergraduates from all RPI majors, learn about activities available to RPI students that are preparing them for future professional careers, and discover how college students manage their time to achieve their academic and social goals.  Registered participants and their parents will participate in a morning Meet & Greet with RPI students who are involved in a variety of activities through clubs, societies, athletic teams, academic departments, URPs, Co-op’s, Study Abroad, and more!

If you’d like to staff a Meet and Greet table or volunteer for a number of other supporting roles, please visit this Google form by 5 p.m. next Friday, April 13 to sign up: https://bit.ly/2JmalSE  PLEASE BE SURE TO HIT THE SUBMIT BUTTON AFTER YOU COMPLETE THE FORM, OR WE WON’T RECEIVE YOUR RESPONSES!

Volunteers will be asked to wear an RPI or club t-shirt and casual pants to the event.  Depending on your assigned time slot, you may also be eligible for a FREE light breakfast or lunch.  Julie Granata (granaj3@rpi.edu) will be in touch by email next Friday, April 13 to notify you of your DYFD final assignment(s) and will let you know If you’re eligible for breakfast and/or lunch.

Each volunteer role will be assigned a volunteer Lead from the Women at Rensselaer Mentor Program Board who can answer any questions you may have about your assigned role(s) before or during the event.

I hope you will volunteer to support DYFD 2018!  Your assistance is greatly appreciated!
